The wife and children of James A. Nicely invite friends and family to celebrate his life. Family visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV, 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. The services and burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on June 12 at the McMillion Church in Friar's Hill, WV

Jim's life began on January 4, 1951 and ended painlessly on Jun 8, 2009. Jim is beloved of his wife of thirty years, Rovena Lewis Nicely. He was very proud of his children; Zetta Nicely and Paige Cordial of Radford, VA; Travis and Rebecca Workman of Berry, KY; William Nicely of Berea, KY; and James Earl Nicely in Naval service is Sasebo, Japan. Jim doted on his grandsons, Samuel Workman and Lucias Cordial who miss "PapPap" very much. Jim's brother, Bee Johnson; sisters, Bernadine Nicely, Casandra Perkins, Terrence Knicely and Blanche Knicely are family survivors who were frequent stars in Jim's colorful stories. Earl Drennen, longtime friend and brother, will find his driving much less criticized with Jim's passing. Lifelong friend, Donnie Faulkner, continues in Jim's love of mountain and gospel music. Jim's humor, stories, and music will live on is his immediate and extended family, host of friends and spiritual sojourners, and in his "little darlin's" that rode his school bus.

Jim said that he waited not for the undertaker but for the UpperTaker. He often quoted 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, :Therefore we are always confident, Knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." We are confident that Jim rejoices in eternity with His Savior and Companion, Jesus Christ; his precious mother, Wilda Johnson Nicely; sister, Bernice Nicely; dear friend and in laws, Earl Lewis and his wife, Zetta; and many others we know only through Jim's many tales of family and friends.

Jim dedicated his life to learning the Truth of Gad's Word and supporting spiritual growth in others, He was adamant in his last years that the message of Christ as one of love and service - not of fear or division. His life verse was 3 John 4, I have no greater joy that to hear that my children walk in Truth," Please join us in continuing Jim's legacy by allowing the Author of Scripture, the Holy Spirit, to teach you about God's plan for your life. Also when you have the opportunity for a good story, joke or sing, please take time to savor the sharing as Jim always found time to do.
